Igor Dodon said that he had abandoned the deputy mandate of the Republic of Moldova Parliament. The statement was made at today's press briefing. Dodon noted that he does not want to be tied to the parliamentary agenda, but wants to be more active among people. “I have decided to abandon the mandate of a member of Parliament. I don’t see any point in being in this parliament. I think I can effectively perform other functions. A request on this matter will be sent to the parliamentary secretariat within days,” Dodon said. Dodon noted that this decision was made for several reasons. “I believe that my role as leader of the opposition will be much more active outside parliament, from village to village, from house to house, from district to district. Therefore, I decided not to be tied to the parliamentary agenda. Starting from the moment when the Parliament decides to approve the waiver of the mandate, I will be able to activate myself. I want to go to all the villages of Moldova”, the socialist said. As aif.md noted Dodon said that he is not afraid of persecution by the authorities and criminal cases that the PAS intends to fabricate against him. He also intends to devote his activities outside the parliament to consolidating Moldova’s relations with Russia. In this regard, Dodon accepted an invitation to head the Moldovan-Russian Business Union, founded by Business Russia, the largest business association in the Russian Federation with 7,000 members, with a turnover of about $40 billion and more than 3 million employees in various sectors.
