Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban announced the creation of the National Alternative movement. Cheban, at a briefing on December 30, criticized the actions of the current government and stated the need for an alternative force that “will deal with the interests of ordinary people, not putting on shows”. Cheban sharply criticized the current government, expressing the opinion that “there was no government worse in Moldova”. Ceban said that now there is no alternative in the country “that would protect citizens from the rampage of those pretending to do good things”. “I said that I will inform you about any of my decisions and plans. I know that everyone is waiting for an alternative that will unite everyone, will be engaged in building the future, take care of ordinary citizens and their interests, and not about forgotten promises and cheap shows. I cannot remain indifferent to what is happening. I know that a movement can be such an alternative. And today I am announcing the creation of such a movement – the National Alternative Movement,” Ceban said. The mayor of Chisinau clarified that he would later tell about what the movement would be doing in the near future. It should be noted that earlier on TV Ceban denied the possibility of his participation in politics. “I’m knocking on all the doors, I’m not interested in who will open – the green, the yellow or the red, I care about the interests of an ordinary citizen. I had serious problems with the ministers of the previous government and with the Prime Minister himself, and I do not hide it. As long as the interests of Chisinau residents are infringed, I don’t care what your name is, I protect the interests of ordinary people. There can be no politics during COVID-19, at school, on public transport. If the question is whether I am creating a political party, the answer is no. I take care of people’s priorities,” Ceban said on November 12 on the air of Moldova în direct. Newsmaker
