Russia is launching the next phase of the war in Ukraine. This was stated in an interview with India Today TV channel by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. He did not specify what it consists of, saying only that its goal is the full occupation of the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Minister also said that Moscow is not going to use nuclear weapons during a “special operation”. “We are talking only about conventional weapons,” Lavrov was quoted as saying by TASS.
Today, for the first time in the last three weeks, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu commented on military actions in Ukraine. He said at the board of the Ministry of Defense that Russia “is consistently implementing the plan for liberating” the self-proclaimed “DNR” and “LNR”.
At the same time, according to him, the United States and other Western countries are doing everything to “prolong” the war “as much as possible”. Shoigu claims that by supplying weapons to Ukraine Western countries are prompting Kyiv to fight “to the last Ukrainian.”
Shoigu did not say anything about the new phase of the so-called “special operation in Ukraine” announced earlier today by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The day before, the beginning of the offensive of the Russian army in the Donbas was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in another video message.
