The council of the Forța Fermierilor Association informs that an important meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry will be held today at 16:00. The main topic for discussion is the introduction of the state of emergency in agriculture due to the severe drought and the Russian embargo, as well as the implementation of the plan of urgent measures to support the affected farmers. The process of field verification is nearing completion, reports noi.md It is already clear that in the vast majority of areas the corn harvest is compromised by 90-95% and the sunflower harvest by 60-70%. The ban on fruit exports to the Russian Federation has further aggravated the situation in the fruit and wine sector. “Without the state’s intervention, many farmers risk going bankrupt in a very short time, and tens of thousands of people will lose their jobs. Let us note that at the moment the state can introduce some measures not requiring the allocation of financial resources from the state budget. At today’s meeting, Forța Fermierilor wants a strong response if the government accepts the idea of introducing a state of emergency in the agricultural sector and approves a plan to restore the situation on the ground, as publicly requested by the Minister of Agriculture and Food,” says the association’s press release. At the same time, farmers say that today’s meeting will continue the discussion on the deoffshorization of agriculture, and AIPA will present information on the current situation with the delayed subsidy payments and discuss the idea of introducing a single (consolidated) tax in agriculture.
