The volume of natural gas consumption in May this year in Moldova amounted to 23.6 million cubic meters, which is 16.08% lower than in the same period of 2022. At the same time, the PR Service of Moldovagaz JSC reports that compared to April 2023, this figure decreased by 22.1 million cubic meters, or by about 48.4%. Domestic consumers, as of May 31, 2023, have paid 96.6% of the amounts billed for consumption in 2023, down by 0.1 percentage points from the same period last year. As to non-household consumers (legal entities), the share of payments reached 94.8%, down 3.5 percentage points from the same period last year. The country’s heating sector companies had a payment rate of 93.9%, 6 percentage points lower than in May 2022. During the reporting period, 657 consumption points were disconnected from the network, which owners owed the supplier 3.4 million lei. At the same time, 180 consumers were transferred to payment in advance, due to the earlier suspension of supplies for non-payment of consumed natural gas on time. According to Moldovagaz JSC, the level of payment for natural gas supplied in 2023, as of May 31, 2023, reaches 95.5% of the volume and amounts to 8.177 billion lei.
