Low-income families in the cold season will be able to benefit from several compensation programs, including for electricity, Labor and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu told Rlive.
According to him, it was proposed to introduce two new categories of energy vulnerability to identify low-income families. The minister outlined that assistance for the cold season will be included in the compensation program
“This year we will try to access more data on the income of households applying for humanitarian aid during the cold season. At the same time, the budget adjustment process is in full swing and we want to understand what financial sources are available at the moment that we can use for this program. Now we also need to integrate the assistance for the cold season into the new compensation system,” explained the Minister of Labor and Social Protection.
Alexei Buzu noted that the Energy Efficiency Agency develops a program of cheques for high-efficiency equipment, which will be offered to low-income families.
We shall recall that in the previous cold season, the government provided compensation for electricity in the amount of 3.4 billion lei, while 5.8 billion lei is planned in the state budget. An increased vulnerability rating was given to 763,000 households registered in the information system.
