The European Parliament calls for the opening of negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the EU. MEPs voted for the resolution in favor of Moldova.
The document envisages full liberalization of trade between the EU and Moldova, as well as additional financial and technical assistance, integration into the single European market and energy support. The resolution was adopted by a majority. 448 MEPs voted in favour, 45 against and 43 abstentions. The report on Moldova’s activity in the context of EU membership will be adopted in December by the Council of the European Union. The EU leaders have to take this decision unanimously.
