PAS candidates won in 19 out of 32 district councils, but did not get a majority in any of them. The Socialists, who traditionally won the first place in the northern districts, came second.
According to preliminary CEC data, PAS took first place in the district councils of Floresti, Singerei, Telenesti, Rezina, Ungheni, Calarasi, Orhei, Nisporeni, Straseni, Criuleni, Hincesti, Ialoveni, Anenii Noi, Leova, Cimislia, Causeni, Stefan-Voda, Cantemir and Cahul.
However, PAS will not gain a majority in any local forum and alliances are likely to be formed.
PSRM came first in eight district councils. These are Briceni, Ocnita, Edinet, Donduseni, Riscani, Drochia, Soroca, Dubasari and Basarabeasca. In the districts of Ocnita and Donduseni, the PSRM received more than 50% of the votes, becoming the only districts whose councils will be headed by one party.
In addition, Our Party won the district council in Falesti, the European Social Democratic Party won in Soldanesti, the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova won in Glodeni, and the Revival Party came first in Taraclia.
