The candidate for the position of Balti mayor, Arina Corsicova, who was supported by the fugitive politician Ilan Sor, was withdrawn from the second round of the election. This decision was taken today by the District Electoral Council of Balti, after examining the complaints received from the police and other participants in the electoral race. The meeting of the Balti District Electoral Council took place amidst a rally in favor of Corsicova. MP and representative of the former “SOR” party Marina Tauber took part in it. The protesters demanded to be allowed into the meeting, but the police did not allow them to pass. After the announcement of the council’s decision, people started chanting: “Shame” and “Arina is our mayor”. According to the local edition esp.md, Corsicova’s lawyer has already stated that the decision to remove her from the election will be appealed. In the first round, Corsicova, who is considered Ilan Sor’s reserve candidate, was supported by 21.52% of voters. If the decision to exclude Corsicova is confirmed, Alexandr Petkov from Our Party and Maksim Moroshan from the PSRM will face each other in the second round of the election.
