The Foreign Ministry recommended Moldovan people to refrain from unimportant trips to Israel amid the “aggravation of the security situation” in the Middle East. The foreign ministry explained that stability in this region could be jeopardized indefinitely.
Citizens are therefore advised to closely monitor information provided by the authorities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic mission in Tel Aviv.
The Foreign Ministry also urges Moldovans to be responsible, cautious, to priorities personal security, to follow the instructions and rules set by the authorities, as well as not to expose themselves to unjustified risks.
Earlier, the Moldovan authorities advised citizens to exercise extra caution when travelling to the Middle East region, especially to Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Jordan.
On the evening of 13 April, Iran attacked Israel with hundreds of missiles and drones. According to the Israel Defense Forces, most of them were shot down. The Nevatim airbase sustained minor damage as a result of the attack.
On 1 April, the Israeli army struck the Iranian consulate southwest of Damascus in Syria. The attack killed seven officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, among them two high-ranking advisory generals. In turn, Tehran said it reserved the right to respond to the Israeli airstrike on the consulate general in Damascus. It is assumed that the Iranian attack could begin in the next 48 hours.
