Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said he had received an invitation from Gazprom chief Alexei Miller to take part in the discussion in St Petersburg. “We will coordinate this visit with the prime minister and define our positions. We will do everything in our power to ensure stable gas flows, consumer protection and stability of the Transnistrian region,” Parlicov said, bani.md reported. The meeting comes at a crucial moment for Moldova’s energy sector, given the difficulties related to the management of Moldovagaz SA. On 25 September, a new Moldovagaz board of directors was to be created, but Vadim Ceban remained interim head of the company due to lack of agreement in the six-member Supervisory Council (four from Gazprom and two from Moldova), where decisions require a minimum of five votes, complicating the decision-making process. 50% of Moldovagaz is owned by Gazprom, 35.3% by the Moldovan Public Property Agency and 13.14% by Tiraspoltransgaz. According to the financial data, the company made a profit of 1.282bn lei in 2023, in contrast to the loss of 323m lei recorded in 2022.
