Energy Minister Victor Parlicov admits that from 1 January Moldova may have to buy electricity elsewhere than in Transnistria, and the costs will be higher.
The statements were made during a conference following talks with Gazprom head Alexei Miller, unimedia.info reported.
“This contract has been unilaterally amended by Gazprom. It can be expected that Gazprom will not want to supply either to the border or in full volumes, we think it is wrong to tie left bank’s volumes to historical debts, but this is their position.
We had this scenario in mind when we were preparing for winter. We will buy electricity elsewhere, yes, we understand that it will be more expensive. We also call for the support of international partners, without them we will not be able to overcome the scenario in which there will be no gas at all or not enough gas in the Transnistrian region,” Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said.
