This statement was made by Alexander Dugin, who is called Putin’s ideologist, during a discussion with political scientist John Mearsheimer organized by the Chinese State University.
Asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intentions, Dugin said:
“As for Ukraine, it must remain, from Putin’s point of view, either neutral or ours. Neutrality failed, so it must be ours,” Digi24 reported.
“As for Eastern Europe, I would say the same thing: either it will be neutral or ours. People like Orban in Hungary or Georgescu in Romania understand this very well,” he continued.
‘We cannot tolerate hostile, weak and aggressive beings at a dangerous distance from us. The threat from Ukraine is existential, the threat from Eastern Europe is less existential. I think it can be negotiated,” Dugin said.
This is not the first time Putin’s ideologist has threatened Romania. Earlier this month, an account associated with him wrote that Romania would soon be part of Russia. However, the post was soon deleted.
