The Chairman of the Parliament spoke about the situation with the electricity and gas tariffs, stressing that in case the gas supplies are not secured for the MoldGRES in Cuciurgan, the electricity tariff will inevitably increase.
“If there is no gas, an increase in electricity tariffs is inevitable,” Grosu said, specifying that as for the gas tariff, it will not be increased for citizens, given that the authorities have negotiated with Moldovagaz and Energocom to maintain the prices, bani.md reported.
Grosu stressed that “there is no clear decision on gas, but at least we have listened to what people from Moldovagaz and Energocom say”.
“We have worked hard and put money in the budget to ensure that people’s rates and payments are not higher than last year,” the speaker said.
Regarding compensation, Grosu explained that it is calculated so that the fee will not exceed the 2023 level.
The MoldGRES on the left bank provides 50% of the right bank’s electricity needs, and if Russian gas supplies are cut off, Chisinau will shift to the Romanian market, where the price per MWh reaches 188 euros on average. Currently, Premier Energy consumers pay 2.34 lei per kWh, while consumers in the north of the country pay 2.81 lei per kWh.
