On 2 January, 5 million cubic meters of gas were delivered from Romania to Moldova, which is 20% of the methane gas Romania receives. This volume was a record in the history of gas exports from Romania to Moldova.
According to Transgaz, the largest gas exports from Romania were directed to the Republic of Moldova. About 5.7 million cubic meters of gas (probably entirely of Russian origin) from Bulgaria is supplied to the neighboring country via Negru Voda. At the same time, 2.3 million cubic meters are exported to Hungary via the Arad-Canadpalota point and at least 5 million cubic meters are sent to Moldova via the Iasi-Ungheni point, economica.net reported.
This is the largest volume of gas exported to Moldova in history. It is expected that the export volume can be increased as the pipeline has a capacity of about 6 million cubic meters per day.
The gas that comes to Moldova was probably purchased earlier and some of it was stored in Romania.
“Gas was purchased on regional and European markets for consumers on the right bank of the Dniester. It should be noted that SA Moldovagaz has concluded contracts for the necessary gas volumes that will ensure full consumption of the right bank until the end of March 2025,” Moldovagaz said earlier.
Recall that Romanian Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja earlier said that under the current situation, more electricity is also supplied to Moldova. He stressed that the exports are carried out on a commercial basis and do not negatively affect Romanian consumers.
