Prime Minister Dorin Recean said during a visit to Varnita that the electricity tariffs on the right bank of the Dniester will not be increased in the coming months.
Recean stressed that the authorities had analyzed all the risks and taken the necessary measures to prevent the increase, bani.md reported.
“We have taken into account all the risks that may appear in the next six months, and there are no preconditions for a tariff increase. We still ask to save money during peak hours, and then there will definitely be no preconditions for a tariff increase,” the Prime Minister said.
The announcement followed a 75% increase in electricity tariffs on 4 January.
In September 2024, in the context of the upcoming presidential election campaign, Prime Minister Dorin Recean assured that natural gas and electricity tariffs would not be increased, but contrary to the statements, they did.
“The election campaign has not started yet, but, as ordered, a shaft of false information has started, especially regarding the tariffs for natural gas and electricity. The government cannot know what will happen on the international market, but we assure everyone that Moldovans will not pay increased tariffs for gas and electricity this season,” Recean said at the time.
