The average weighted price of electricity purchased by the Republic of Moldova amounted to approximately €110/MWh in June, according to Energocom board member Alexandru Slusari. According to Slusari, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) is ready to reduce consumer tariffs, but is “waiting for a signal from the government” to launch the procedure, reports bani.md. “Prices have fallen significantly compared to winter highs, and there are no longer any objective reasons for maintaining the current tariffs,” the official said. Slusari claimed that in July the average price will be “slightly higher”, but without “radical” hikes, and in August it will probably be below the threshold of 145 euros/MWh, which was considered critical at the beginning of the year. Slusari explains this stability by import flows from Ukraine and moderate quotations on the Romanian OPCOM exchange. “Only fundamental destruction of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure could raise the price above €145/MWh,” he warns. Currently, the electricity tariff is 4.10 lei/kWh for electricity supplied by Premier Energy, but with the compensation applied, consumers will actually pay 2.34 lei/kWh until the end of the year. Consumers pay 4.68 lei/kWh for electricity supplied by FEE Nord (in the north of the country), with the tariff subsidized at 2.84 lei/kWh.
