The leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) and former president, Igor Dodon, stated that under the current circumstances, Maia Sandu could share the fate of Vladimir Plahotniuc, against whom all political forces, including external partners, united six years ago.
“It is possible that, under the influence of all the ongoing events, including those in the region, Maia Sandu may repeat the fate of Plahotniuc, against whom everyone united six years ago – not only within the country but also external actors. Such a scenario is quite possible as early as this autumn,” Igor Dodon stated, according to unimedia.info.
As a reminder, the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova are scheduled for September 28, 2025. The decision was approved by the deputies of the PAS faction.
Meanwhile, the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) faction insisted on holding the elections at the end of July – the earliest date allowed by law. However, the amendment proposed by deputy Radu Mudreac did not receive support from the legal commission.
