Home / Politics / Kulminski: Process of Appointing the US Ambassador to Chisinau Was Launched
Since the end of Kent D. Logsdon’s mandate in May 2024, the United States has no full-time ambassador in Chisinau. Currently, the embassy is led by Nick Pietrowicz, the Chargé d’Affaires, who was appointed in August 2025.
“Only those who do not know or do not fully understand what is happening in the United States can speculate. I confirm that this is not a political signal. The person currently in charge of the embassy is a professional with ties to political circles in the United States, and the process of appointing an ambassador has already begun, as far as I know. This situation applies to many countries, not only in the region but also globally,” Vladislav Kulminski said, according to Radio Moldova.
Vladislav Kulminski described the relations between Moldova and the United States as “respectful and very strong”. According to him, “we are a reliable partner for the United States in a region that is undergoing deep geopolitical transformations”.
The ambassador referred to President Maia Sandu’s words, noting that in a “world of national interests” and amid the redistribution of spheres of influence, “the task of the Republic of Moldova is clear: to maintain peace and avoid being on the other side of the curtain, on the side of autocracies”.
“We must be able to protect our national interests and ensure that Moldova maintains its democracy after this redistribution of the geopolitical space. Moldova will remain on the side of the free world,” said Vladislav Kulminski.
The diplomat highlighted three priority areas in relations with the United States: security, energy, and trade and economic ties.
