President Maia Sandu addressed teachers and students at Comrat State University, touching on issues such as the future of autonomy, upcoming elections and the importance of integration.
In her address, the president emphasized that Gagauzia is an important region of the country and that the success of the autonomous region is inextricably linked to the success of Moldova as a whole, writes rupor.md.
“When young people from Gagauzia feel needed and in demand throughout our country, then both the autonomous region and the state as a whole benefit,” said Maia Sandu.
The head of state paid particular attention to the language issue. According to her, proficiency in the official language opens up new prospects for the regionэs residents.
“To fully achieve one’s potential, knowledge of the Romanian language is essential. It is necessary both for full participation in society and for professional development,” the president noted.
Maia Sandu also touched upon the political agenda. She reminded that the residents of the region will soon elect deputies to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia. The president expressed hope that the new representatives will bring long-awaited changes based on dialogue and honesty.
“We live in very difficult and unpredictable times, when simply promoting democratic values is no longer enough. They require constant struggle and effort to defend them,” added the head of state.
