Values are the basis of the dialogue and relations between Moldova and the EU. Democracy, observance of human rights, rightful state, free elections, media independence ... Success in these areas improves the economy, social sphere, makes salaries higher, these are what people need. We have been talking on these topics with partners in Moldova for more than 20 years. Sometimes it seems that we are going in a circle and keep talking about the things we have discussed many times. I mean the independence of the judiciary system, fighting corruption, investigating cases of bank fraud and money laundering. All of these things make Moldova a country that does not meet the European standards. Sometimes there is no progress in reforms, sometimes we can see regress. Sometimes we can see the events that we could not even imagine, such as annulling free and fair elections results, the adoption of tax amnesty laws, which puts  in jeopardy the fighting corruption commitments. Last year Moldova adopted a mixed electoral system, contrary to the recommendations of the Venice Commission, the OSCE and the clear EU position. Now we will wait and pay close attention to the future elections to be fair, free and express the will of the people. And we will talk about problems out loud to be heard. Source: Newsmaker
