Pavlo Klimkin believes that Kyiv need no diplomatic relations with Moscow. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has already discussed with a number of countries the possibilities of representing the interests of Ukraine. Against the background of the incident in the Kerch Strait, the Ukrainian foreign minister Pavlo Klimkin spoke in favor of ending diplomatic relations with Russia. “I personally and emotionally believe that we need no diplomatic relations with Russia. I have already discussed with some countries about the possibility of our presentation, but they clearly said that, given the full scope, we can only serve as mailboxes. They (diplomats of foreign countries), by definition, cannot do what our diplomats are doing today”, Klimkin said on Thursday, November 29. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted that he is in favor of breaking the diplomatic relations with Moscow, despite the fact that there are 3.5 million citizens of Ukraine in Russia. He also spoke in favor of introducing a biometric visa regime with Russia. Commenting on relations with Russia, Pavlo Klimkin said that Kyiv is cardinally reviewing its contractual base with Moscow. “We have recently terminated 48 bilateral agreements. The next portion will be very soon, about 40 agreements. We are thoroughly reviewing our contractual base”, said Klimkin. Source: DW
