On June 11, the head of the Moldovan state Igor Dodon held the first working meeting with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs and European integration Nikolai Popescu, who took the oath the same day. The President congratulated the Minister on his appointment to a responsible post and wished him success, reports Actualitati.md. “I think Mr. Popescu is a professional, and the Prime Minister Maia Sandu proposal to nominate him for the post of Minister is the right personnel decision”, said Dodon. He expressed hope for close fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European integration. At the same time, he noted with regret the lack of interaction between the Presidential Administration and Foreign Ministry under the former Minister. In this context, he asked to analyze the activities of some ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova, who at this time disinform our external partners about the political processes taking place in the country. Mr. Popescu noted that the status of ambassadors obliges them to represent the state as a whole, not a political party, as it is happening now. “We also discussed the promotion of a balanced foreign policy of Moldova and stressed the importance of maintaining in force all international agreements concluded by the Republic of Moldova, including with the European Union. In addition, we confirmed the interest of our country in the restoration of a full partnership with the Russian Federation”, Igor Dodon said. Point
