“Painful reaction of the Moldovan side to the human rights activities of the Transnistria at the level of leading international organizations, including the UN Human Rights Council, recognizes effectiveness of such work,” — reported the Foreign Ministry of Transnitria, commenting on the reaction of Moldova on the the head of the representative office of Transnistria in Russia Leonid Manakov’s address at the site of the 41st session of the UN Human Rights Council, REGNUM reports.
Tiraspol stated that the new Moldovan officials are not familiar with the negotiating agenda, and the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms in Transnistria is not only one of the main tasks of negotiations with Moldova, but also a priority of Transnistria.
“It is obvious that the dynamics in the negotiation process is undermined not by the international human rights activities of Transnistria, but by the prolonged unjustified failure of Moldova to fulfill its obligations under the agreements reached in 2016-2018,” the Transnistrian Foreign Ministry said.
It also called on mediators and observers in the settlement process to assess the discriminatory attacks of the Moldovan side and to prevent any restrictions on the international human rights activities of Transnistria.
It should be recalled that the Moldovan Foreign Ministry condemned the fact that the UN provided a platform for the head of the Transnistrian mission in Russia Leonid Manakov at a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council. Moldova demanded to delete the text of his speech from the official page of the organization, because “it does not correspond to the content of the speech and violates the provisions of international law” and stands for not providing a platform for the representatives of Transnistria.
The head of the Transnistrian mission to Russia Leonid Manakov at the UN Human Rights Council told about Moldova's violations of the rights and freedoms of Transnistrians and called for granting the PMR observer status in the UN.
