By the beginning of July, Moldova’s state budget deficit exceeded 4.793 billion lei ($ 281.9 million), which is almost twice more than in the first half of 2019. This is due to the fact that revenues to the state treasury in the context of the pandemic and the resulting economic crisis decreased by 672.4 million lei (3.7%), to 17.524 billion lei ($ 1.030 billion), while expenditures increased by 1.534 billion lei ( 7.4%), exceeding 22.318 billion lei ($ 1.312 billion), infotag.md reports, citing data from the Ministry of Finance. The main generators of the state treasury revenues are the customs (9.918 billion lei), the revenues from which decreased by 3.7%, and the Tax Service - 8.093 billion lei (-5.2%). The largest decline was demonstrated by revenues from projects financed from external sources. Already modest, they decreased by 41.4%, amounting to only 110.9 million lei ($ 6.5 million). The balance of funds in the accounts of the state budget at the end of June was 5.826 billion lei, of which 1.042 billion lei - for projects financed from external sources.
