Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that now there is no need for military assistance to Belarus. He announced this at a press conference on August 19, meduza.io  wrote. Peskov said that Russia has obligations on military assistance to Belarus within the framework of international treaties, but now there is no need for such an assistance. When asked what is the situation Russia can provide military assistance to Belarus, Peskov answered that it is impossible to speculate about this hypothetically. Peskov also said that Russia recognises election results in Belarus and considers everything that happens in this country to be its internal matter. Recall, after talks between Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko on August 14 and 15, the Kremlin announced it would provide the necessary assistance to Belarus within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty between the two countries.
