Most of the funds are directed to the modernization of agricultural machinery and irrigation equipment, the development of the horticultural sector and the infrastructure for processing agricultural products. The total amount of subventions over the past 5 years amounted to 1.8 billion lei.
The prime minister also added that since this year most of the crops suffered due to unfavorable climatic conditions, the last government meeting decided to increase the amount allocated additionally to the Agricultural Subsidy Fund in order to compensate for the losses of farmers in the first group of cereals.
“We want to modernize agriculture, we want it to become attractive to all participants in the agro-industrial process, including young farmers. The government will continue to develop effective policies in this area”, Chicu said.
