President Igor Dodon assured that the Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM) will not form a coalition in parliament with a new parliamentary platform comprised of the Sor and Pentru Moldova MPs, the latter consists of five independent MPs who recently left the Pro Moldova group. Dodon said on the
Politica TV8 show on November 4 that in the current parliament the PSRM can only create a coalition with the Democratic Party, as well as the Action and Solidarity (PAS) and Dignity and Truth Platform (DA) parties. At the same time, the president noted that without an agreement between the PSRM and PAS, it will not be possible to dissolve the parliament.
Dodon rejected the possibility of a parliament majority through the PSRM coalition with the new parliamentary platform Sor-Pentru Moldova.
“Maшa Sandu and I have 52 votes. Why are you talking about these guys right away? Let Maia Sandu and I sit down at the table and make a government, a parliamentary majority. PSRM in this parliament can create a coalition with DPM, PAS and DA. And that’s it. We do not consider other coalitions,” Dodon said.
At the same time, the president urged the right-wing opponents “not to burn bridges”, since, neither the current nor the next parliament will be able to resolve vital issues without socialists.
“We need to leave the gate open. Former coalition colleagues vowed many times that they would not sit down at the negotiating table with us, with others. But later I see that they agree to such negotiations. I say clearly that we are ready to come to an agreement and stand together with the right. They represent the right electorate, we are the left. I have never ruled out such a possibility, they should not either. Because the parliament cannot be dissolved without us will,” Dodon said, adding that it is impossible to dissolve the parliament without an agreement between the socialists and the PAS.
“If one of the two players is against dissolution, you will not dissolve the parliament. After November 15, in any case, we are open to discussion with our opponents. Therefore, we are very attentive to them, we don’t get personal, we don’t burn bridges. We treat our opponents on the right with respect. I congratulated Maia Sandu on her victory – I think, this is a nice gesture,” Dodon said.
Recall, on November 4, the
Sor party deputies signed an agreement on joining the Pentru Moldova platform, which consists of five independent MPs who recently left the Pro Moldova group. The platform now has 14 members and is the second largest group in the current parliament.
Earlier, President
Igor Dodon, stepping into the second round election campaign, said that his rival Maia Sandu would not cope with the problems of the state, and only he would be able to ensure the continuity of reforms and preserve peace in Moldova. Dodon accused Sandu of closing schools, blocking pension and benefits projects, freezing road repairs, liquidating small mayor’s offices and her intention to unite Moldova with Romania.
