President of Romania Klaus Iohannis congratulated the leader of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) Maia Sandu on her victory in the presidential elections. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his congratulations on Twitter as well. As Iohannis noted on Twitter, "the citizens have chosen the European and democratic path, the path of progress." “Romania will continue to work shoulder to shoulder with Moldova to modernize, develop democracy and move closer to the EU. The President of Ukraine also expressed his congratulations in English. “Congratulations to Maia Sandu on her election victory. I look forward to further strengthening relations between Ukraine and Moldova for the sake of the European future of our peoples,” Zelensky wrote. It should be noted that after processing 99.95% of ballots, Maia Sandu won 57.74% of the votes in Moldova, Igor Dodon - 42.26%. Outside the country, the difference is almost 86% in favor of Maia Sandu.
