According to the CEC deputy chairman, Igor Dodon’s result is 42.25%.
Maia Sandu won the presidential elections in Moldova with 57.75% of the vote, while her rival Igor Dodon gained 42.25%. This is evidenced by the CEC data after 100% of the protocols was processed.
According to data published on the CEC website, the turnout in the elections was 52.78%.
As Deputy Head of the Central Election Commission Vladimir Sarban said during a briefing earlier on Monday, incumbent President Igor Dodon received 42.2%.
“57.74% voted for the candidate Maia Sandu and 42.26% voted for the independent candidate Igor Dodon. <...> It remains to wait for data from the last polling station in Sacramento, but they cannot factor into the results,” Sarban said. According to him, the elections turnout was high - 52%.
He clarified that these are preliminary data collected using the CEC automated system. The final results will be summed up after the physical receipt of the protocols from the election commissions. The CEC has five days to sum up the results, which must be submitted for approval to the Constitutional Court.
