President Maia Sandu considers the reports on the allegedly impending resignation of the Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo to be a "speculation" (the prosecutor himself stated about the political pressure against him). She said this on Wednesday during a press conference, taking questions from the press, infotag.md reports. Sandu noted that the president does not have any legal rights to dismiss the prosecutor general, and the current legislation does not stipulate a procedure at all that provides for this. "I expect from the state institutions that they will fulfill their duty in the interests of citizens. I have great expectations, like citizens, from the work of those institutions that receive money for the fight against corruption. Because this is the primary goal on Moldova's agenda today since corruption provokes poverty, discourages business, demotivates people," the president said. According to her, the first (under her chairmanship) meeting of the Supreme Security Council will take place in the near future, where priorities in the fight against corruption will be discussed.
