The bill on a partnership between the United States and Ukraine in the field of security provides for the allocation of $ 300 million to Kiev annually, as well as the provision of lethal weapons.
The bill on partnership with Ukraine in the field of security, developed by a cross-party group of US senators, provides for the allocation of annual multimillion-dollar financial assistance to Kiev to protect against Russian aggression and move along the reform path. This is stated in a message published on Wednesday, March 18, on the website of one of the authors of the bill - Democratic Senator from Connecticut Chris Murphy.
The bill provides, in particular, for the creation of a working group on Ukraine in the State Department together with European partners, as well as for the appointment by the US presidential administration of a special envoy to Ukraine who would represent Washington at peace talks in the "Normandy format" and help establish a dialogue with the countries of the Black Sea region.
In addition, the document provides for the provision of lethal weapons and the allocation of $ 304 million of military aid to Ukraine annually, 4 of which will be directed to the education and training of Ukrainian military personnel.
According to Murphy, Ukraine "provides a living example for testing the ability of the United States to maintain fragile democracies exposed to internal and external hostile forces." In turn, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Bob Menendez, who also took part in the development of the bill, stressed that the document will help Ukraine "defend itself against Russian aggression and will contribute to the advancement of American values and priorities in foreign policy."
