PSRM chairman Igor Dodon argues that in the context of a pandemic, it is necessary to stop discussions and disputes about early elections. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel, where he cited an analysis of the latest data on coronavirus. "13th week of 2021 (March 29 - April 3, 2021) in comparison with the 12th week of this year: - The number of new infected people increased by 25.4%; - The number of deaths increased by 15.7%; - The number of people who recovered increased by 0.6%; - Over the past 14 days, the spread of coronavirus reached 0.94. These trends, which at first glance are positive given the decrease in the number of new infections, should not reassure us, since the number of deaths has increased and a large number of extremely serious cases and intubations persist, " Dodon said. The ex-president added that "the reduction in the number of new cases of infection was made possible when authorities approved prompt actions a few weeks ago, especially with regard to the educational process and the mode of state institutions and civil servants’ operation." He also voiced the idea that the emergency regime should be continued. "The state of emergency declared by Parliament must be continued; some restrictions may be loosened or partially removed (especially with regard to the educational process for 1-4 grades, visits to public places, parks, etc.), but now is the time to think about a number of steps to support and protect the population and economic agents, "- the PSRM leader wrote. Dodon stressed that "the emergency regime allows the Emergency Situations Commission and the government to approve emergency decisions on redistributing the 2021 budget funds to support the population and to purchase the necessary to combat the pandemic, to gain access to new loans from domestic sources." "By the way, the interim government cannot get access to external sources, which should be well known to those who consider themselves specialists, including fake candidates for the posts of ministers or prime ministers who received zero votes in parliament and who have recently arranged a lot populist noise wihtin social networks. It is important to add here that, having approved a full-fledged anti-crisis government, it will be possible to gain access to external sources, and the need for an emergency situation may disappear, since the government with all the powers will be much freer to make decisions even without the need to introduce an emergency, "the ex-president of the Republic of Moldova said. The politician added that the emergency has become an alternative to the chaos that has arisen due to the lack of a stable government in the state. "In the near future, we should take advantage of a respite of several weeks before the next wave, which, according to experts, will come in early to mid-May and will be accompanied by higher rates of morbidity with more aggressive trends than in March. Doctors need immediate and additional support. and the vaccination process should be as dynamic as possible. I consider it realistic to import into the country within the next 25-30 days at least 300 thousand doses of vaccine (including 180 thousand from the Russian Federation) and vaccination at the expense of the state of at least 100 thousand citizens from the high-risk group, so that the total number of vaccinated persons exceeds 150 thousand of people. And especially for the presidential administration and other irresponsible political leaders, I repeat the previously voiced position of the Party of Socialists: - I believe that any political struggle and discussions about elections in such conditions should be stopped; - I invite everyone to focus together on overcoming the pandemic, social and economic crisis; ⁃ We must urgently ensure mass vaccination of the population to achieve a satisfactory level of herd immunity. For this, at least 1 million doses of vaccine must be imported into the country, and the immunization process must be well organized to ensure daily vaccination of at least 8-10 thousand citizens (this goal must be achieved by the end of June); - The life of our citizens takes priority over political ambitions. Now we must all together help those who work to save people's lives and be with them in their difficult struggle," Dodon wrote.
