The Liberal Party (PL), led by former Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, will run in early parliamentary elections together with the Alliance for the Unification of Romanians (Alliance for Uniting Romanians - AUR) party, led by the supporter of Moldovan-Romanian unification, George Simion. Chirtoaca said on May 17 that the liberal candidates will be included in the general AUR party list. “We, the Liberal Party, decided to create a united front with the AUR party, which showed good results in the parliamentary elections beyond the Prut. Preserving our liberal identity and pro-Romanian aspirations, we decided to participate in early parliamentary elections on the AUR lists in order to break the ice of disunity together and build unirea,” Chirtoaca said. The liberal also noted that to participate in the election campaign, his party will provide the AUR not only with its candidates but also with offices formation, transport and all resources. Recall, on May 11, the AUR called on all unionist formations to join forces and participate in early parliamentary elections scheduled for July 11. USB (Union Save Basarabia) Valeriu Munteanu has already responded to the AUR proposal, who noted the goals’ similarity for both parties. “Considering that the USB and AUR programs coincide, and the unification of Basarabia and Romania is our common goal, USB accepts the AUR’s proposal,” Munteanu wrote on his Facebook page.
