Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita is optimistic about Moldova’s European integration process, since our country received a questionnaire from the European Commission just a month after applying for membership.
She claims that there is a historic chance that the EU institutions will make a positive decision on our country’s European path, agora.md writes
“We received this questionnaire in a very short time, a month after applying for membership. I believe that there is a historic chance for a positive decision,” Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said on the air of a program on TV8.
She says that a possible decision to grant the country candidacy status would help Moldova, given that we are one of the countries most affected by the war in Ukraine.
“All our partners have said this, that in these difficult times people should have light at the end of the tunnel, so that there is hope. We know that right now there is a difficult security situation, a difficult economic situation. The war in Ukraine affects us, and we, as well as our immediate neighbors who do not benefit from the security umbrella, should know that we are welcome in the family of EU countries in any case, and I believe that this openness exists, and therefore we have rushed this request to the EU,” the prime minister added.
The head of the Cabinet of ministers claims that the candidate country status will be a prospect of accession, but she did not give a forecast of the period in which Moldova will become a member of the EU.
