Moldovan President Maia Sandu commented on the decision of the Emergency Situations Commission (ESC) to revoke the licenses of 6 TV channels. The Emergency Situations Commission last night suspended the broadcasting licenses of six TV channels: Primul in Moldova, RTR Moldova, Accent TV, NTV Moldova, TV6 and Orhei TV. “This decision is based on the conclusions of the Broadcasting Council regarding these channels, which demonstrate a lack of reliable information in the coverage of events in the country and the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine. It is aimed at protecting the national information space and preventing disinformation,” Sandu wrote. She noted the importance of this decision to prevent destabilization in the country. “Preserving peace and stability in Moldova is our priority in the difficult conditions we find ourselves in when there is a war at our border. And protecting the national information space is an important step to prevent attempts at destabilization by those under international sanctions. We cannot accept that at this time, full of challenges, the security of the state and the peaceful life of citizens are threatened by fugitives who want only one thing – to avoid justice,” Sandu added.
