According to the infrastructure minister, Moldova takes loans from abroad to repair roads.
“Internal financial resources do not allow us to rehabilitate roads. 100 million lei is allocated annually for repairs. It is a small amount and we will need about 70 years to rehabilitate them,” Spinu said, quoted by bani.md
The report of the State Road Administration says that in 2022, about 20.91% of the national roads and 27.11% of the regional roads were in very bad condition, while 23.86% of the national roads and 25.91% of the regional roads were in poor condition.
The report on the implementation of the Road Fund Distribution Program for National Public Roads for 2022 states that the proportion of national public roads in Moldova in excellent condition almost doubled last year.
Thus, in 2022, the proportion of national public roads in excellent condition reached 13.27%, whereas in 2021, it was 7.84% and in 2020, 6.57%.
