Nicu Popescu participates in the OSCE Summit in Skopje. During the visit, the head of Chisinau’s diplomatic mission held meetings with Romanian Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu, as well as other officials from Spain, the Czech Republic, Denmark and France. With Luminita Odobescu, the Moldovan official discussed Moldova’s European path and praised Romania’s support for Moldova’s development projects. “I outlined, together with Mrs. Odobescu, the importance of a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with a focus on the unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops from our territory. In Skopje, I reiterated the resolute solidarity of Moldova and Romania for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Popescu said. On the platform dedicated to Ukraine and condemnation of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Nicu Popescu spoke about Moldova’s accession to the EU and the upcoming vote in the European Council on 14-15 December. In his opinion, the enlargement of the European Union will benefit both the EU and the countries in the accession process. “I thanked my colleagues for their support for Moldova and emphasized the importance of continuing to help Ukraine, which is fighting daily for our collective peace and security. During the discussions, we reiterated the need for the unconditional withdrawal of the Russian Federation’s troops from our territory, thus creating favorable conditions for an exceptionally peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict,” Popescu claimed.
