The Moldovan government also decided to borrow 3 million cubic meters of gas for the left bank. This gas is needed to maintain pressure in the gas pipes. At today’s press briefing, Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced a support package in the context of the energy crisis, which includes the following measures: - immediate intervention: a loan of 3 million cubic meters will be approved for the left bank to maintain pressure in the system; - emergency intervention: the EU offers a grant of 30 million euros to buy gas from 1 to 10 February to produce energy for the right bank at an anti-crisis price and ensure consumption for the left bank; - a comprehensive energy sustainability programme for the next two years: the government and the European Commission are working on this package, which has two components: investments in energy production and distribution to ensure that we have light and that we are not blackmailed, and measures to reduce energy consumption tariffs. It will be finalized in the coming weeks.
