Igor Grosu said that the authorities will present a new package of legislative amendments in order to minimize the attempts to destabilize Moldova and to influence the elections. This was announced at the post-election analytical conference organized by the Central Electoral Commission, reports deschide.md. According to the speaker of Parliament, during the presidential election and referendum last autumn, the authorities faced two rather difficult choices in which “an organized criminal group funded by Moscow and the Kremlin was directly involved”. “It was a direct attack on democracy and on our European path. Unfortunately, not all state institutions were ready to deal with these interventions. Some of them, the police, the National Anticorruption Agency, the SIS, mobilized and dismantled part of this network led from Moscow, others, from which more is expected, acted as spectators,” the speaker said. In this context, Grosu said that state institutions expect that new attempts to influence the Moldovans’ choice will be made at the parliamentary elections this autumn. “We have announced that we will present several amendments to Law 381 in the near future to mitigate these attempts to destabilize the country and influence the elections. I believe that all institutions should be fully involved not only during the election campaign period but every day. This is not about one party or another, but about the future of democracy in Moldova, our freedom and the future of our children. Let us work together to save the future,” the speaker concluded.
