In June 2025, compared to June 2024, Moldova’s goods exports fell by nearly 7%. Overall, exports have been declining for 26 consecutive months. By the first half of 2025, they had dropped by 30%.
The only difference from previous months is that, alongside a decrease in exports to the CIS (down 23.4%) and to other countries (down 27%), exports to the EU increased by 3.6%, mybusiness.md reports.
The coming months will show whether this growth marks the beginning of a steady increase in exports to the EU or if it was just a one-time surge. For now, June saw continued declines in exports to countries such as Germany (down 22.4%), Poland (down 19.4%), Romania (down 8%), and others.
Exports grew, however, to the Czech Republic (up 80%), Belgium and Austria (up 32%), France (up 22%), the Baltic states, and so on. Exports to Russia fell by 13.4%, to Belarus by 26%, and to Kazakhstan by a factor of five.
Among other countries, Turkey stands out: exports there fell by 24% in June, although for the half-year they increased by 65%.
Exports to the United States also continue to decline, almost by half in June and by one-third for the half-year.
In January-June 2025 compared to the first half of 2024, total exports decreased by 10%: to the CIS by 24%, to the EU by 11.3%, and to other countries by 3%.
