Home / Economy / Moldova Will Facilitate the Export of American LNG
Moldova and 11 other countries in Central and South-Eastern Europe signed a joint declaration with the United States in Washington to strengthen the security of natural gas supplies and ensure affordable prices in the region.
The main idea is to promote the export of American liquefied natural gas (LNG), including a potential complete ban on Russian gas supplies to the EU. Other signatory countries include Greece, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine, Croatia, Lithuania, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to logos-pres.md.
This was reported by the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy.
“The document emphasizes the need to optimize natural gas markets to ensure their economic efficiency and sustainability, while simultaneously utilizing and expanding existing infrastructure and removing non-market barriers to competitive prices, including by repealing regulations that hinder gas imports, building new gas infrastructure, and ensuring long-term stability in natural gas trade,” the Sofia-based agency said in a statement.
The joint declaration was signed during the Transatlantic Gas Security Summit, which was attended by Moldovan Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu.
