Ukrainian Losses Caused by Nord Stream 2

Home / News / Ukrainian Losses Caused by Nord Stream 2
The implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project will result in losses due to a decrease in exports of services by about 2.5-3% of GDP, Ukraine's Ministry of Finance reports. The ministry also believes that the implementation of the project will strengthen the role of Germany as a "gas hub" for consumers in Western and Central Europe. Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will start from the Russian coast to Germany along the Baltic Sea bottom and the laying of the pipeline has already begun in Finland and Germany. The goal of the project is to ensure reliable Russian gas supplies to the EU. Most European countries support the project. The U.S., the Baltic States, Poland and Ukraine are against it. Ukraine is afraid to lose transit of the Russian gas through its territory. U.S. discontent is conditioned by the desire to sell its liquefied natural gas to Europe. Source: iz.ru
