President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko proposed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to to work out an integration strategy before December 8. Mr. Lukashenko pointed out that people in both countries had long been looking forward to the specific decisions to be made by the presidents. “I suggest sorting out all issues before that date within the Supreme State Council, and adopting a program that will define our action strategy: both the program to determine the strategy of our actions, and to remove the current problems that exist today,” – said Mr. Lukashenko at a meeting with Mr. Putin. According to Lukashenko, he supports the two governments’ initiative to reach an understanding before the 20th anniversary of the Union Treaty. “What achievements are we going to talk about as we celebrate the 20th anniversary? There will be nothing for us to say if we fail to settle all the issues and if we do not sign the program shaping the strategy of our joint actions.” – said the President of Belarus. The program, according to the governmental estimates, is 80-90% coordinated, noted Lukashenko. It should be recalled that at the end of 2018, Dmitry Medvedev signed an order to establish a joint Russian-Belarusian working group on integration. In May 2019, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting and agreed to give instructions on deepening the integration of the two countries. At the same time, the Russian President said that Russia does not plan to unite with Belarus in one state. Kommersant
