Prime Minister Ion Chicu sounded the alarm and said the situation with the pandemic in the country is quite serious, and in a few weeks the medical system in our country will be at its breaking point. Chicu noted that, despite WHO and the entire international community’s efforts, the pandemic is gaining momentum around the world and in our country as well. The number of cases is growing and the burden on hospitals and doctors is enormous, agora.md reported. “We are the 19th in Europe’s ranks in terms of reported cases per million inhabitants and the13th in terms of deaths per million population. Although at the current stage we still have places in hospitals and intensive care units, in a few weeks the medical system will be at its limit and we will have great difficulties in accepting new patients with COVID-19,” the prime minister wrote on his Facebook page. The head of Cabinet of Ministers stressed that the authorities cannot take measures to restrict economic activity and free movement of citizens. “The arsenal of government’s funds to stop the spread of this virus is very limited. In this situation, I ask the citizens of Moldova to show maximum attention and responsibility not only to their health but also to those around them. I know that it is difficult to breathe in a mask, but only using this form of protection we dispose an additional chance to stay healthy, to stay alive,” the prime minister wrote. Recall, yesterday 1,442 new COVID-19 infection cases were detected in Moldova.
