At the same time, the court refused to suspend the decree, as requested by the socialists. On March 22, the court will consider the request of the Socialist deputies on the merits. Recall, PSRM MPs Grigore Novac, Vlad Batrancea, Alexandru Suhodolschi and Vasile Bolea applied to the Constitutional Court about Maia Sandu’s decree on nominating a deputy from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) Igor Grosu as a candidate for prime minister. As Novac explained to the NM, "during consultations with the president, everyone discussed early elections and the need for a plenipotentiary government, and then Maia Sandu, having learned about Mariana's refusal to Durlesteanu, proposed her candidate, without asking whether the majority had a candidacy instead of Durlesteanu." Novac stressed that the president has the right to nominate his own candidate, but only after making sure that the parliamentary majority is not going to nominate his candidacy.
