Russian President Vladimir Putin said that a clean-up of the political field is taking place in Ukraine, which is supported by the West. He told about this when opening an operational meeting with members of the Security Council on Friday, May 14, TASS reported. “Now, as you know, there is an absolutely obvious political field clearing there. National media outlets are being shut down. And nothing, our Western partners do not react to this in any way, well if not, then they support decisions of this kind,” the Russian leader noted. In addition, Putin drew attention to the fact that Ukraine is turning into a kind of " Russia’s antipode." Also, the President was concerned that from Kiev Moscow will constantly "receive news requiring special attention from our side in terms of ensuring the security of the Russian Federation." On April 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly invited Putin to meet anywhere in Donbass where the war is going on. The Russian leader advised Kiev to negotiate with representatives of the self-proclaimed republics, but agreed to host the Ukrainian head in Moscow. Kiev named the Vatican and Switzerland as a possible meeting place. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that he was not aware of the Russian president's readiness to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart somewhere other than in Moscow.
