Home / Economy / Slusari: The subsidies situation in agriculture is critical
Former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Alexandru Slusari, claims that the subsidies situation in agriculture is critical, while requests for subsidies may increase this year. Slusari wrote about this on his Facebook page, stiri.md reports. “The National Fund for Agricultural Development have about 10 million lei after paying of all debts over the past year, financing of some measures for the development of the village and the allocating of direct payments totaling 80 million lei for zootechnical enterprises. There is practically no money left to support agricultural activities in the current year. This has never happened in the history of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, until October 31, one can expect that the volume of applications for subsidies will exceed one billion lei. A difficult legacy for the new Minister of Agriculture and the result of the previous government's irresponsible attitude towards the strategic sector,” Slusari noted. The former deputy also notes that it is urgent to amend the state budget with a significant increase in the fund for the agricultural sector.
