On Sunday Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita met with U.S. Senator Robert Portman, who is visiting Chisinau.
The sides discussed Moldova’s European integration agenda, decisions to strengthen the national energy security, overcome the regional crisis and the priorities of the Moldovan-American dialogue, moldpres.md reported with reference to the government’s communication and press department.
The prime minister thanked the US official for his interest and initiatives in support of Moldova’s democracy, independence and territorial integrity, as well as for valuable assistance provided by the US for Moldova’s development and overcoming the crises triggered by the war in Ukraine.
In this context, the sides expressed the need to identify urgent solutions to overcome the economic crisis and to ensure food safety in the region.
The sides also exchanged opinions on measures to strengthen energy security, highlighting Moldova’s connection to the European power grid.
For his part, Senator Portman confirmed the readiness of the United States to provide all the necessary support to mitigate the consequences of the war and to implement the reforms initiated by the Government.
