Military Personnel from Ukraine and Romania to Take Part in August 27 Parade

Color guard and flag-bearing units from Romania, Ukraine, Lithuania, Italy, Poland, France, the Czech Republic, the United States, and other countries will take part in the military parade on August 27 at Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau. The participation of foreign military personnel in the parade marking the Republic of Moldova’s Independence Day is part of the country’s efforts to strengthen its partnerships with other nations. Colonel Ion Rotaru, head of the Defense Policy and Planning Directorate at the Ministry of Defense, said this in an interview with Public Radio, according to Logos Press. “Of course, we were counting on the strengthened partnerships we have established with various countries. They received invitations and confirmed their participation. On August 27, they will take part in the parade as part of an expanded contingent at Great National Assembly Square,” Rotaru said. Rotaru noted that Moldova also receives invitations from partner countries to participate in various events abroad. “Therefore, this serves to reinforce the message, both in terms of our participation there and their participation here,” said the Ministry of Defense spokesperson. As a reminder, more than 2,000 military personnel and law enforcement officers, as well as veterans and contingents from partner countries, will take part in the parade on August 27 in downtown Chisinau, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Moldova’s independence. The parade will also feature more than 100 pieces of military and specialized equipment.
